real reason everyone is pissed is that some river trash families have figured out a way to corner a valuable profession. First time in history of the World that has happened.

BUT you JUST SAID experience doesn't make them better.
You dont believe that a person that has been taught the ends and outs of navigating the river since he was 5 years old and is now old enough to hold the job on his own, lets says he's 35 years old... could be better at the job with zero actual experience than someone that has been on the job for a total of 15 years but not nearly the amount of knowledge?
Even though the greenhorn doesnt actually have the amount of on hands experience, he has much more knowledge than the guy with 15 years hand on experience.

Well you're not actually doing anything and are apparently a glutton for punishment, so why would you stop?

If it's so important to y'all that river pilots be seen as less nepotic and more open, proceed with legal action.
If it's so important to you that people stop saying mean things about river pilots and pointing out the bullshite ways the profession operates, then come up with reasons to actually defend them and disprove/retort the points being made.

Born: 1985
28 years of experience
List dad, uncles, brothers here

You gotta be trolling with this.

Valid. Hey, I believe SFP is a lawyer?
Even he wouldn't touch this case from a legal standpoint. Just decrying nepotism.
It's more sad that people want to belittle a profession that provides value, when if the tables were turned and they could control it, they would in a heartbeat.
Some upset individuals.

When you and TMS are ready for your lobotomies, call me. I've seen every episode of Grey's Anatomy AND I used to watch ER.

An adult who's been on the job 15 years and doesn't know the ins and outs of navigating the river.
Your hypothetical treats the 15 year vet like a fricking retard who spent 15 years not learning shite.

These guys have experience though. Nowadays they all went to a maritime academy and spent time on ships before getting a pilot job. What I don't understand is all the people who bash pilots yet would never go to a maritime academy anyway. You can still make 200k working 6 months a year as a captain yet none of these people want to do that. So don't complain about pilot jobs when you don't have any interest in being in the industry regardless

So even though you've watched a lot of television and read some books you've never actually held a scalpel in your hand?
Sounds good to me!

The standard for pointing out blatant nepotism on the OT now is whether or not you'd take the case to court.

How can you expect anyone to maintain a decent standard of living on $473K per year? These members of the lucky sperm club are obviously struggling to get by.

That's not as fun as seeing people upset they can't make 500k/yr because they don't have the right last name.

right, that's why so many college graduates are told "sorry, but you don't have any experience" when being rejected for a job
Knowledge based on experience trumps all.
