I was a kid at the height of roller rinks. For some reason I remember lots of hand and finger injuries: jammed fingers, hands and fingers rolled over while people were on the floor.

There was lots of finger action at the rink we went to growing up. Fun times, if you didn't get caught.

I’m not portly, I don’t ride a bike, I rarely am Uptown, I don’t wear clothing with college insignia, and I am never in a bar.

Death rides the highways, but you are safe in the trolley car. Find me in a streetcar. I do much of my writing riding the rails. Inspiration comes from the sites and the riders. See you soon.

State and St Charles.

It’s been the last five years that they stopped doing this, but I remember when the car would make stops every two blocks. Or maybe every block. It was convenient because if I lived where I used to live, I would have to walk about two extra blocks now.

I don’t think I could do that. I rarely have time to listen now, and inevitably would omit worthy callers.

They wearing them skates a little loose. Need to tie them laces up if they dont want to roll an ankle.

I've taken my daughter to the skate place on Jefferson near Stumberg a few times in the last 3 or 4 months.

I was stunned at how many brothas are into roller skating and almost all of them have those high arse skates untied/loosely tied. Even have older black guy there from time to time coaching for a fee. He gave my daughter some good tips to improve her skating.

Talked with one of the guys and apparently it's a big underground thing.
