That's your definition. And it's ludicrous to suggest that a 32-week or 34-week gestational age human being is anything other.

This issue, much like abortion is very complicated. I at least concede the complexity. You appear to see it quite simply - you're right and those disagreeing with you are wrong.

Ah! Well, that was his choice then.

Well he shouldn't have had that choice. The government should have stepped in and forced him to receive a transfusion.

He could have banked his own blood or used alternatives. So no.

I wish a certain mom would have thought so little of their unborn child. I'm kidding but only just kidding.

As to Prince, c'est la vie. His passing changes my life zero.

Why didn't he donate his own blood and stock up a personal supply for the surgery?

Have an up vote, Rex. Not because you aren't easily the worst and least-respected poster in Board history, or that anything including this thread or your post history belongs anywhere but as an online exhibit of "Please God don't post like this", but because I care. That's right, I care Rex. And I want you to have at least one up-vote per thread, even if you are hell-bent on being the most shitty poster in the history of shitty internet posters.

He likteded the way dem pills make him feel. No more, no less. Glorifying his addictions because of his religion is just wrong. Remember kids, drugs are bad- even if you are Prince.

Can JWs not bank their own blood ahead of a surgery? I know some groups are OK with that.

Pretty sure they can.

We had a kid that was JW(well his grandparents were very devout JW...the mother sorta kinda). His hemoglobin levels kept dropping. Doctors tried giving meds to try and increase blood production since they knew a blood transfusion was gonna cause an uproar. Finally got to where the kid's life was in danger if he didn't get a blood transfusion. Mom finally gave in(telling us to NOT tell her parents about the transfusion). Had she not...the doctors would have gotten a court order enacted immediately in order to save the child. They will try to respect the parent's religious beliefs as much as possible...but if they think it will place the child at serious risk...they will use legal action to be able to save the child.

One good thing about his death is it has brought more attention on the dangers of opioid addiction. Opioid overdose is becoming the largest cause of preventable death in the U.S.

Prince is not the first JW nor will he be the last to turn down surgery because of blood transfusions, even with self blood or new bloodless surgery. So, his personal decision was a consequence of his faith, to which he was perfectly entitled. I certainly don't agree with his faith, but I certainly don't agree with denigrating the man because of the drugs.
