Heavy post upcoming, apologies beforehand...

Do you ever have moments in your life where you remember a time period in your life vividly and don't necessarily miss it, but grieve its passing? Then you stack all of those phases in your life thus far and see them passing you by....

Then you see your grandparents pass and your parents getting old and your children growing up, and you are spotting a grey hair or two yourself.

Then you realize how fast it's all moving and sooner than later you'll just be a name on the family tree, and all of your life's work and joys and anguishes will be forgotten utterly and completely.

Then you find peace with the temporal nature of our existence and are able to cherish each fleeting moment. At least that's where I'm at tonight.

Life. It's beautiful and sad and awe inspiring and terrible.

But it's LIFE!

Then either (1) you got nothing to worry about; or (2) you ain't seen nothing yet!

Those feeling are just chemicals reacting in the brain. You still got grandkids, retirement and lots of great stuff ahead of you

Can't wait for all of that!

I hope my tone did not come across as sad because it was meant to be more contemplative. I suppose as I age I'm becoming more reverent towards life as a whole, and a bit of a buzzkill as well apparently.

I'll be 40 in the coming year.. I don't feel or act like I felt I would.. It's weird looking in the mirror realizing that I'm at a point in my life in which I vividly remember my parents at that age.. Have for a few years but I think of them at that age as older than what I feel now.. I need a beer

I've been known to wax nostalgic before, and will do so now.

It seems like only yesterday my up-in-age mother in law was rocking my infant son on our front porch, which caught the attention of many passers-by.

Mother in law died 3 years ago and that infant son will be a freshman in high school this fall.

2 gray hairs on my right temple area.

Yeah, I'm feeling it right here in middle age. Too old to be young, and too young to be old.

I just wake up every day and get shite done, share a laugh, share a drink, say prayers.........do it all again tomorrow.
