The Neuronal Density of Corvids

Songbirds in general have some of the tightest packing of neurons of any animals on this planet.

We're talking about the highest forebrain neuron density of any animal.

Gram for gram, nature has condensed twice the neural architecture into a songbird's mind compared to that of a primates... four times that of most rodents.

What separates Corvids from the rest of the songbird pack is how big their brains are. All of that dense packing into a brain to body ratio that has few contemporaries. Massive brains compared to their body size.

Think of it like microchips: A chickadee is like a smartwatch. It might have the same transistor density as a high end laptop, but that laptop has a MUCH larger chip.

We have a bird family on this planet that can mentally compete with cetaceans, non-human hominids and elephants

We are probably only scratching the surface on what Ravens, Crows and Jays are truly capable of.
