6 year olds shouldn't be getting diagnosed with ADHD anyway. They aren't close to being developed enough

if you compare two people with the same shitty diet with one guy bloated and sick and the other guy normal, excluding gluten from the diet of the sick guy makes him feel better. There's gotta be something to that.

There are at least three blood tests used in determining that someone is suffering from celiac disease. Process of elimination isn't really even necessary.

Darth, pretty sure Rebel was being sarcastic. I don't think he doubts "heart disease" as being fake

OK. Sounded to me like he thinks I'm making up that I had heart disease. My point is why would someone make up something like that. What's to gain?

The "something called "heart disease" is what tipped me off.

But honestly, I believe there have been known cases on here where posters claimed to have very serious conditions, including cancer, and it later turned out that it wasn't true, and they were simply seeking attention. At least that's what was said. I don't know any of them, so

Although hes technically right. From what I understand, IBS is really just something to help Drs say "Sorry that your GI is hyperactive, but thankfully there's nothing wrong to fix (i.e. Chron's, celiac, food allergies, etc.)." you just grab some probiotic and imodium, look at a "what food to avoid with IBS" chart and go on your way.

Okay, I can agree with that definition. You are correct in that essentially, no detrimental diagnosis can be made. I started experiencing GI issues out of nowhere in 2013 and eventually they removed my gallbladder. Oddly, I was told that it likely wouldn't fix the symptoms, but that it still needed to be done because it was "sludged" up. Since then, I have continued to have the off-and-on (more on than off) issue of an overactive GI system, but there is nothing serious to treat, which is good. My GI doc has labeled it as IBS.

While not debilitating, it still can make life very difficult in some circumstances. I used to have a hour-and-a-half bus ride as part of my commute to work every day and ultimately left that job (which I really enjoyed) because I could no longer comfortably "trap" myself on a bus with no access to a restroom for three hours a day. There are a number of jobs I could never do simply because I could get stuck in long periods without the ability to excuse myself. Think anything in retail, for instance.

IBS was a killer for me for many years, but I dramatically reduced my portion sizes at meals and did a complete 180.

Overeating will definitely make it much worse, to that I can attest. Smaller portions and not drinking too many liquids all at once both help.

I gotcha. And I honestly wish I were making all this up and didn't really go through, not to mention put my wife and kids through, the hell and terror of the last several months. I freaking hate this shite and wouldn't wish it on anyone. For someone to pretend to have a life threatening condition just for attention is very messed up.

I truly believe that the pharm companies are perhaps the biggest threat to our cultural and societal evolution, hell even our biological evolution for that matter. These are real diseases, but marketing to convince people that they have them should be illegal.

Like someone else said before, disability is a huge concern, its the new welfare. The cases are growing and we are all paying for it. Disability attorneys are making a killing by training their clients on exactly what to say when they send them to your local mental health provider to get the correct diagnosis. It takes incredibly, INCREDIBLY competent psychiatrists and therapists who are actually concerned about the issue to flush these folks out.

Agree 100%

It's gotten absurd

I've seen POS on 100% disability for everything from ADHD to carpal tunnel syndrome.

Hey doc. What are the odds of me being able to retire and go on disability based on what I've had going on? Between stage IV heart failure, two heart surgeries in a week, dying, a-fib, fluid issues, and on and on. What do you think?

2. Anxiety: Anxiety is a very real and debilitating disorder

5. Depression: This is a very real disease, but again Americans are over-medicated and want to feel numb, so they're misdiagnosed here too. Way too many people on anti-depressants these days who don't need to be.

Someone close to me suffers from both of these, and it is a hellish experience. It makes even the simplest daily tasks seem insurmountable. The idea of paying bills or going to the store is overwhelming. Friends and even family members fall away, leaving the person isolated.

So far no medication has helped. Xanax takes the edge off during a full blown anxiety attack, but that clearly is not a long term solution. Next up is Cymbalta. Maybe it will work when others haven't.

I worry a lot. This person has been going through it for a couple of years and is still hanging in there, but I wonder how much more they can take.
