I'm always going to be a skeptical dickhead towards you, but I'll gladly give gardening and farming advice to anyone who will listen to me ramble.

I don't think NE Texas would be the place to grow it, but I'd love to grow organic hemp - I love to eat hemp hearts.

I'm still reading the links too. Good stuff.

The "Egyptians magically could figure out where to find meteorites" is nonsense and illogical.

Deserts are the best place to find meteorites, because they often lack terrestrial rocks. So when you see a chunk of anything up ahead, it sticks out.

But thats right, that is illogical and people are claiming that they could find the meteorites as if they had scanners to beeline straight to it.

Aliens are far more likely. Although it would have been a lot cooler if they had simply made the dagger out of stainless steel rather than such a mundane application whose only source of uniqueness is the origin of the metal and not the finished product.

While we are being logical and all.

There's a reason they call it weed. I've never grown the industrial stuff, but I know it's as hardy as anything you could want. The difficult part is getting seeds with good genetics. And legality

I'm not talking about smoke, I'm talking about the hemp you eat. Wouldn't that be legal? Or are you saying you can't grow f'in hemp in the U.S.? They grow it in Canada.

Nope. Industrial hemp is under the CSA.

Now, that is stupid. Pot ought to be legal anyway, but you can't grow hemp to eat?????

I figured you would be familiar with the allegedly nefarious reasons for outlawing hemp. It is widely said, and, to my knowledge, without great evidence (not that disproves the theory) that the main reason for cannabis prohibition was not exactly a concern about the effects of jazz musicians and migrant Mexicans chilling out, but because the properties of hemp seed and its derivatives were a tremendous threat to petrochemical, paper, and timber industries.

I thought one of the KY posters said that they had finally allowed for hemp to be grown in KY after a big ordel.

Or maybe I was too stoned and am confused.

There's all kind of hemp products that are said to be superior. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I really believe that. If they were, in fact, better than their comparative analogues, somebody (maybe me!) would be getting richer than Scrooge McDuck. Motivation for money is the greatest driving force in this world.

According to Hempinc:

quote:

When it comes to cannabis, laws vary from state to state and continue to change as new legislation is passed. Currently there are thirteen states with statutes establishing commercial industrial hemp programs. This means that the following 14 states can legally grow and process industrial hemp and hemp seeds: CA, CO, IN, KY, MA, MO, ND, OR, SC, TN, VT, VA, NC and WV. While seven (7) other states have also passed laws establishing industrial hemp programs, they are limited to agricultural or academic research purposes only.

Interesting, I was unaware.

Technically, such laws are superceded by Federal law, which certainly prohibits industrial hemp cultivation. I guess the letter of the law doesn't matter if no one enforces it.
