We were talking about this at work the other day-

what is better in a zombie attack- to be in a bunker/ basement OR take a higher position on, say, a tall building?

Both have advantages and disadvantages....

The island is a great idea.

Obviously I wouldn't be expecting some kind of mass attack on an island, but you would still have to be always vigilant.

This could bring up another point. If a fish/shark eats infected flesh, how does that affect the animal? Would it just poison and kill the animal or infect it as well? Something we don't know if we are not trusting the guide, and something we can't assume either way.

No zombie is gonna be able to climb up a building if you destroy the stairs/ramps that connect it. I don't think a zombie (at least the kind we are talking about) has the dexterity or intelligence to climb a ladder.

A zombie can always fall into a basement. In this situation, higher is always better.

Good point- even if sea animals do not become infected the water could possibly carry the zombie virus.

Read the thread. That's been answered.

Simmer down. It is a reasonable theory.

then we'ld be super fuct and if they are anything like planet terror or 28 days/weeks later. Never thought about that...Slow zombies are never that scare. I guess the only problem with being elevated is that you have only one place to go and thats up. Kind of screws you if they find a way in. Would you rather fight till the death or jump if they did get in. Or would you blow yourself up and take out a bunch of them.

All I know is bullets eventually run out. I'm not going anywhere without a few of these (I use to compete in axe throws for LSU).

Ok, I missed that post. No zombie animals. Still, there's no conclusive evidence that animals would eat zombies. Wouldn't it be safer to assume the worst case scenario (animals don't eat zombies) and plan accordingly? I just don't like the idea of entrusting my safety to fish and sharks.

I think the ideal island scenario would be to have two or three "safe islands" with a strong defense around the dock/harbor to ensure that escape ships remain zombie free. So if a stray zombie washes up on a beach and starts an infection, survivors can make their way to the safe zone and flee the island to the other islands.

Since I haven't seen it claimed, I'd like to commandeer the USS Kidd and do stuff like blow up the Miss. River Bridges after everyone makes their get away across them. Also, if someone sets up a zombie decoy and gets them into a large group I can blast them with the Kidd's cannons

Well, the moat was just a precautionary/extra measure anyway, right? Sharks and pirahna would at least help (or not hurt)..that'd be my guess, though I don't know.

Well, we'd have run of any island we wanted, so that would be doable.
