Will, any worries about oak alley, legacy hills etc...with backwater flooding? 74 and bluff look ok now.

Anyone have any news on Briarwood. It's off of Airline near Pecue. Haven't been able to reach my parents.

Briarwood is dry for now. I'm very concerned about Ward Creek backflow but thats likely an overnight issue.

Not that this is the time to discuss this, but there will be a massive demand for home repair and infrastructure contractors, funded by large infusion of government and insurance capital.

this, will be a bonanza for someone who can rip carpet, cut sheet rock and float it - laminate flooring - all kinds of $$$ to be made in the next 18 months. Home Depot parking lot will empty out by 6:15am.

The broken window fallacy. Sure, some will benefit, but spending to replace damaged assets and infrastructure is not a net economic gain LINK

WWL TV just sent out an app push notification about having live coverage

they consider Livingston and Tangi part of their coverage area so they really need to go all out on this

I left and don't plan to return, other than visit. With the way the state is being run, the school system being terrible, and a hurricane or big flood every couple of years, no way in hell I'd move back

PA, it doesn't help 100%, but I can tell you that those two specifc areas saw nothing of mention in '83.

New River head waters are what would cause that flooding and this morning they had someone talking of the cornerview flooding subsiding. 74 kind of acts like a barrier between them and the manchac/Spanish Lake flooding.

ETA: Will is across 74 and I have seen all of those entrances flooded for days/weeks before they were subdivisions.

That could be accurate, but these gauges are such a damn crapshoot. The gauge for Ward Creek had a reading of 21.65 feet twice on August 11th, but it was surrounded by readings of 9.5 and 10 feet, which was the accurate reading.

Why these things are so unreliable in 2016 beats me, but unfortunately that is the case.

Anyone got anything on the area south of Broadloomr Middle, between Sharp and Sherwood Blvd? Was confirmed ok as of this morning, but haven't heard anything since.

So hard to believe this has barely been covered outside of BR. Weather Channel is running a show about planes crashing, and national news channels are going with election programming. It's like nobody knows what is going on

I'm getting texts from friends around the country who are seeing coverage. They are not going to cover it 24/7 at a national level, but it is being covered in a similar fashion to floods in other areas.
