You think that but they don’t. You’re paying a middle man.

The only reason you “save” 200k is because people know PBMs exist.

There also seems to be different prices on good rx. I had a prescription that was ran through by the pharmacy and what I had was $20.00 cheaper.

Ethically, do all pharmacist’s have an obligation to do this?
absolutely

You're supposed to report the ones that don't to the FBI

PBMs are organizations that your insurance companies pay to negotiate prices for drugs by consolidating purchasing power- essentially legal monopolies.

This is compounded by the occurrence of chain pharmacies like CVS that make their own PBMs. I don’t even know how this is legal because they pay themselves (CVS) more than other pharmacies and charge the patient less, basically forcing their members to go to CVS.

It would be much cleaner and eventually cheaper for everyone if the insurance companies just did it themselves and also it was illegal for a PBM to price out competitors of the mother company.

Well, it is time for some reforms. We all know Obamacare is nearing its 10th Anniversary. It is time for a radical change to the system to make it more affordable and manageable.

I was prescribed a 1st line of defense prediabetes drug Metformin, and I went to a chain pharmacy to fill it. They changed me a reasonable 15 dollars for the prescription with insurance. I did some research through GoodRx and found that the same drug without insurance at Walmart is only 4 dollars. So the next time my refill came up. I switched to Walmart and with insurance it was free.

I am starting a new name brand injectable drug, but that one is as high as a giraffe’s pussy even with GoodRx. Luckily, there are programs to get this medicine for a copay of 25 dollars with insurance, and my first pen was a free sample. I couldn’t imagine someone having to pay almost 1k every 6 weeks for this stuff.

All she'd have to do is not buy that carton of Malboro reds for a month and she afford the medicine.

I think it's absurd that the pharmaceutical companies don't offer the medicine at the coupon price in the first place. I have one prescription that costs $190 with BCBS insurance, but I can get it for $107 with the good rx coupon. The medicine is over $450 without insurance. Why are they willing to cut the cost by more than $340 with a coupon?

Also, I don’t get it, if the employee of the pharmacist can do this, then why not just sell her the medication for the discounted price?

Sort of along the same line.
Price matching.
Why should I go back to you after I found the exact same thing cheaper somewhere else.
If I wouldn’t have checked prices I would have paid you more when you could have sold it cheaper.
I’ll go with the honest guy.

I flip flop if she is a nurse or waitress. If she's a waitress, it's at some country buffet type place. Prayers sent.

What if she was married to, say, a welder who worked 12 hour shifts and made in excess of $100,000 a year. They are stable financially, so they have a couple of kids. Can even afford to send them to private school so they don’t have to be around kids that look different from them. He wanted her to stay home and take care of the house and kids, as “The Good Book” says. She never developed any real marketable job skills, but she was a wonderful mother and took great care of the house.

Maybe the welder got brain cancer and died. Despite having insurance, his illness and death left the family very financially burdened. But, instead of going on the dole, his widow takes any job she can get (say....as a waitress), which doesn’t come with insurance, or has very shitty insurance.

But frick her for having kids, right?

This board is so fricked up.

I didn’t see one post in the thread about the guy with heart problems that warned him about getting any kind of government assistance if his condition takes a turn for the worse and he ends up losing his insurance. If that happens, frick him right? He shouldn’t have gotten a congenital heart defect right?

This board is populated by self-absorbed, self-righteous, heartless assholes.
