This is anecdotal, but we got a hotel by the Saenger for the Matt Rife show, but it got rescheduled to the same weekend as whatever the hell Rob 49 concert is at Smoothie King center Our hotel was filled with 90% black people, and my genetic white guilt had me thinking we were in trouble..... but it was the best hotel experience we've ever had in Nola. The valet and door greeters actively encouraged bums to go to hotels down the street.. the staff was super friendly.. the instagram/worldstar stars in the elevator were very nice to us. It was like the bums, pandhandlers, pickpockets, etc all actively avoided that hotel for some reason
Which hotel was this?

This is why I stay in Metairie. I only go into the city to go to Tracey’s or to catch Nyx

We were fortunate enough to collect a lot of NOLA's BS in Jxn, MS too. Jxn was in decline prior to Katrina, but NOLA refugees finished it off.
My first shooting I ever witnessed was in the Home Depot parking lot just inside the loop in Houston (nice area/typically very safe) a week post Katrina. There is a Boudreaux's kitchen on a pad site in the parking lot. Didn't take Sherlock to figure out by the good folk running from the police afterwards came straight from NOLA.

I really hope that’s sarcasm.

Did any of you see the video of a black lady that was laying on her back on Bourbon Street? She was alert and knew that her situation wasn't going to end well. Like an idiot I watched that entire video. You later see a black man carrying a rifle and walking to where that woman was laying down. She couldn't run or get up from the street because that black guy already injured her previously. You could tell by the expression on her face that she knew she was going to die. The guy with the gun then shot her in the face. She died instantly. The killer ran away and they later arrested him in the state of Tennessee. I saw that video on you tube and because of all the complaints, you tube took the video down and got rid of it. I just wished that I didn't watch a woman's last minutes on earth. I always wonder why the person who recorded that incident did not call the police. I'll probably always think of that murder until the day I die.

Another shooting on Canal Street. Not that she’d do anything-because she’s as useless as screen doors on a Submarine. But where is Teedy’s retarded arse when all of this murder and mayhem is going on?

In my opinion, as a lifelong N.O. Resident, starting from Canal Street, the first 6 blocks of Bourbon are trashy, seedy, disgusting and potentially very dangerous. Stay away from that part of the Quarter and your chances of getting robbed, hassled, shot or assaulted drop dramatically. I suggest you start early, do some day drinking, take advantage of the 3 for 1 specials and go home as soon as it gets dark.

Even the 11 a-5 p strategy on a Saturday is still iffy. No uniformed police to be seen anywhere.
Hope that they can get this fixed well before the Super Bowl.

wish my dumbass wife (no pics) and her group of friends (also no pics) would realize this shite. they keep doing their get togethers down there and pretend nothing is wrong because they never leave their lakeview bubble
Thankfully now that our last friend is out of Nola, we have migrated most of our friend get togethers to the Northshore or the MS Gulf Coast.
Only reason I go to Nola these days is to see the Pels

Remember that used to be "the one area in New Orleans they keep safe"?

I live in New Orleans
I have not been to the French Quarter in over 2 years and just once since Covid
It’s best left to the tourists, bums, drug addicts, and ninjas

Dubuque, IA is the drunkest city in the US and the 2021 murder # (which was reported as being abnormally high) is 5.... for the whole year
I wonder what the difference is?

I would say it needs another Katrina but I would rather their people stay there rather than disburse around the state and make everything worse.

I don’t know if y’all heard but crime is at 50 year lows. New Orleans crime is also way down due to the new police chief. Y’all just see what you wanna see I guess. You need to ignore all those anecdotal incidents you see with your eyes and pay attention to the facts.
