Haha France sucks so funny. Everyone always shits on France for a poor performance in the Second World War but they literally have won more military battles than any other country in the world.

France got their arse kicked in France, Indochina, and Algeria back to back to back.

I dont know how true that stat is or where you got that from. Obviously Napoleon was an amazing general, as well as a ruler with his benefits of future societies with the Napoleonic Code. What he did in France i think says more for him than what it does for the French. I guess it takes a Corsican.

They pretty much took over all of Europe and drove past Moscow with

While they did defeat the coalition forces on land due to Napoleon's military genius them "driving to Moscow" was a Pyrrhic victory at best. The Russians were running a scorched earth campaign drawing France deep into Russia. It was not Napoleon's initial plan to conquer Russia. His plan was to cross the river Niemen and force the Russians into battle. They would defeat them then persuade Alexander into Napoleon's Continental System (trade embargo of Britain). Instead he got fooled into what i would describe as a poker pot committed campaign of going deeper, and deeper, and deeper into Russia chasing their army when it retreated. It got caught by winter etc and completely destroyed his army which quickly led to the down fall of him and his empire. So using this as a positive example is negligent.

At one point, the French advance was held up all day by a single machine gun.

As bad as that sounds, during the first Battle of the Alps in June 1940 (the Italian invasion of France), 6 French Divisions stopped 40 invading Italian divisions cold in their tracks for over 2 weeks.

Lmao, what?

1.) German had far superior war plans. the Germans forced their way in through the Luxembourg Ardennes, they said frick the Maginot line, which enacted what is known as the sickle-cut plan, focusing on German troops invading through Belgium. They broke french code and invaded from the south.

2.) The Luftwaffe broke anything resembling morale, also dropping airborne assault troops, the Germans easily seized strategic points in both Belgium and Holland. Which drew french troops to the northern half of each of these countries.

3.) Poor Communication on behalf of the French. They weren't willing to accept what was the greatest threat to their border, Meuse, the Germans slaughtered the French with their panzer division.

The French were still reveling in the glory of the Napoleonic wars, they got caught with their dicks in their hand and almost lost all of Europe

France is doing most of the fighting against ISIS and AQ affiliated extremists in Africa right now and is still one of probably three countries capable of global expeditionary operations. Probably not a popular opinion back home but they’re one of a few allies who continue to fight alongside of us against extremist organizations, and in Africa’s case, lead the fight.
