Damn I need to up my prices...
It's pretty bad around here. Good dentistry isn't abundant within the area so the ones that actually are decent charge out the arse.

as far as i know there are zero clinical studies supporting any virucidal effects of ANY pre-procedural rinses (that i'm aware of)

correct I agree with you. I think most of this stuff is dumb but unfortunately there are attorneys in this world....

But I believe there are studies that show it decreases the amount of bacteria in aerosols than water rinse controls. Again, don't think it works on viruses and most likely not COVID.

Peroxide based mouthwash (supposedly) will "deactivate" the virus. Not kill it, but I think prevention attachment to surfaces.

I have no idea if true or not, but we've been using them since all thisshit started.
r e a l l y? I told her today I gargle and spit out hydrogen peroxide every night before brushing and she was like a little wtf.

Also another question for docs.

I was an extablished patient but a new set of docs bought this practice. In all of the paperwork I filled out I had ONE possible drug issue-CODEINE. It was from years ago. Anyway what does she give me as a script, Tylenol3.

They are so busy and ask so much crap they don't read patients charts.

My old dentist who moved takes a touch of blood from the patient and extracts the cells needed for healing and puts it into the extraction spot.

You should ask him if can give you one of those vampire face lifts while he is at it.

Why are crowns/root canals so expensive?

i can say we bill based off provider time.. and root canals are often most time consuming procedure most docs do..

what are folks charging for crowns and/or root canals?

personally, i prefer oral surgery.. no lab bills.

we charge around the 50% percentile for our high volume procedures(of our area)

there are still no shortages of dentists willing to pay $10k just to come visit a weekend and look over shoulders...
even though most experienced docs can place a simple implant (from numb to suture) in 30 mins...the entry cost for doc is still kinda high. (which means fees will be relatively high)

how do do a SUB 15 min crown prep

15 min molar root canal

it should not take longer that 15-20 minutes of doctor time to do a molar endo...or a crown.
if it take more 5 mins to peel off enamel..then doc needs to stop daydreaming while working and just cut the tooth

anterior endo shouldnt take longer than 10 mins..there is just one nerve.. what are people doing?
..btw, those times including getting the patient numb.

it is humourus how some people claim something is impossible ....yet others do the exact "impossible" thing every single day.
¯\_(?)_/¯

google "scott perkins 15 min grown prep"
good stuff.

push your associates to get faster.. they'll appreciate it.

getting faster is also good for the patient. less trauama or stress for them..
..and that greater efficiency is great for the owner doctor

My last root canal, a molar so more nerves (I was told?) was pushing two hours. Claimed one curved under or something.

It ended when she hit the nerve that apparently was no longer numbed and I went rigid as a board and elevated off the chair.

Of course the whole thing was botched, she didn't get all the nerve out obviously, and ended up having to get the tooth pulled.

No, I never went back to that incompetent idiot.

You did say your prefer oral surgery. You might need to review pathways of the pulp.

i prefer oral surgery(implants) bc it is most profitable for my time..but we practice comprehensive dentistry. generally we only refer out biopsies and "difficult" patients.
..but like many others i am a bit of an efficiency nut..we are *always* constantly improving our systems in all areas of practice... including customer service, patient experiences, and infection control in our practices.

very important.. beind efficient assumes the doctor is competent with his skills.
but dr berkins has a private practice and lectures on efficiency....
Recent changes have made it possible to perform endodontic treatment more efficiently, with improved precision and greater patient acceptance..

imo, being the efficient health care provider does not mean to cut corners or be shoddy. you still must search for that MB2 and still must "seal the deal" on RCTs.

it simply means you need to utilize and train the assistants to be a step ahead...and doc will need to stop pausing to "admire" his work every 10-15 seconds... (there is no reason to stop the bur..just cut)

i only knew scott was a texan..i have not followed up on his life/career...
but i did devour his stuff when i started up the 1st practice.

So that nobody thinks it was the Xanax talking about the blood cells and healing an extraction...

My old dentist moved to TN. He was a Navy dentist that went civilian--- best dentist I have had.

Slide the video to where he talks about this new procedure LINK

Platelet rich fibron?

What do all you dentists think?

That's real stuff that's getting popular now. Get venous access, remove a few vials of blood, spin down in centrifuge at a certain rpm and time (depending on what you want to do with it).

You can make a membrane that will help a graft site heal better, or liquid to mix with bone that has all the growth factors to vascularize your bone graft.

Some have used this to do non surgical face lifts (vampire face lift) and to help grow hair in the case of a bald person.

The latest with this is to heat the blood and make injectable fillers to fill in acne scars, remove wrinkles and plump the lips. Because this uses the patients own blood products, there is less chance for a foreign body reaction or allergic reaction.

Good times.
