I think Jesus would find it a bit disappointing that his making straight the path to God for the believer would result in the "true religion" requiring a mediator to intercede for that which no longer needed intercession.
Then why have Apostles?

are we really going to have a seminary discussion on the OT today for the topic of discussing a sleazey preacher that is a preachers kid?
surprised no one has tracked down pics of the side piece/his wife.

Subordinate clause screams holier than thou.
Who made you the arbiter of who is "thou"?

I realize I'm saying this on a board where cultural Catholicism is completely baked into the home state.
Most young people are only semi-practicing Catholics because public schools are so bad in this state.

I think you've mistaken me for a believer. you can get that espresso at the CC's inside healing place

Jesus wanted fishers of men. Once they became followers, he wanted them to have a direct relationship with God. He (Jesus) was infuriated with the way the Jews restricted access to God in the Temple to only the high priest.

church attendances are dwindling at a lot of places. every year there's less and less believers. in 20 years a lot of these church buildings will be actual legit businesses

Counterpoint: I'm not sure the conclusion is true. I think fewer people think they need the trappings of religion for social/public/business life, and thus they're giving up the pretense. The number of Christians may be declining too, although I'm guessing with population growth and immigration that may not be the case. The proportion (as to the population of the US and everywhere else) of what I would call orthodox Christians is probably declining, though.
But what I'm really saying is that unfortunately, we probably can't really assume that church membership or checking the religion box on a form is a reliable indicator of Christian belief, and thus those numbers declining might not really reflect on the actual size of the church. It's just a sign that our culture no longer really cares if you claim it, attend church, etc.

According to the study, 75% of Americans identified as Christian in 2011—in 2021, that number shrunk to 63%, a 12% decrease.
Ten years ago, roughly 18% of Americans were not affiliated with any religion, identifying as agnostic, atheist or “nothing in particular”—that number grew to 29% in 2021, an 11% increase.
Protestants experienced the largest decrease: While 51% of U.S. adults identified with the Christian denomination in 2011, only 40% did in 2021, an 11% drop.

Apparently "Ms Kacie" is still hanging around online but "she" hasn't posted again since the OP. What could be going on? Why doesn't "she" reply to any of the responses in the thread?

The drop in self-identification is exactly what I'm talking about.

I knew this would trigger the Prots on the OT but that's how I feel to lol.
