Some new well-marketed church by my house has Dino on the board of advisors or something (in Atlanta)
here's the church mafia right here for ARC:
Dino Rizzo (everyone knows his story got caught up with his wife's assistant, left HP and moved to birmingham to run ARC.
Wayne Austin (Dino's father in law, former principal at christian life academy in BR)
Lee Domingue (rusty domingue's family)
Comment on reddit re Lee:
quote:
Lee Domingue founded it and pretty sure his wife is also on the payroll. Trafficking Hope is under Kingdom Builders, which is all now under COTH. Lee has created a curriculum to reclaim the phrase “gentleman’s club” - I’m pretty sure that flopped though.
I think they do some legit stuff and outreach - they had supported Hope House in Louisiana for victims I think. But ultimately it is a way to keep money within COTH and the Domingue family. Trafficking is an issue, they get large donations, some goes to cheaper outreach (providing bags for prostitutes with care packages etc, some marketing materials) and a large portion is for throwing events and subsidizing their lifestyles. I know Lee to run on volunteers and extremely cheap labor. And sure he may only make 200k or so as their president, but when that is one of three or four incomes coming in, he’s lining his pockets. They use well intentioned volunteers to keep their charity going.
Lee has been nothing but dishonest for his own personal gain his entire adult life. He’s a failed politician, got run out of Texas for running a Ponzi scheme, and found an opportunity to become wealthy with some old Louisiana friends. The lead financial “pastor” at COTH is an old business partner. He had bragged about writing a book and selling it to ARC Churches to buy his son a brand new 4Runner. He’s found a niche to continue making money for himself and his family; connecting wealthy church members to the mission of the local church AKA fundraising for mega churches.

I remember doing some wake-and-bake channel surfing with my wife one Sunday and landing on some black church doing that. The band was playing that "Get Down On It" song and the preacher was like, "get down on it for GAWD!"

Healing Place building a new facility off Airline in Gonzales/Prairieville to get a whole new flock or to keep the riff raff out of the Baton Rouge location
The thing that reels people in is the good they do in the community which is legit
That helps them justify their million dollar home, nice cars and travel luxuries the higher ups benefit from
It's another ponzi scheme

Last I checked the Guy who gave Peter the responsibility to lead His church was both God and man
"Behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent." This curtain separated the second room called the Holy of Holies from the first room, the Holy Place."
I think Jesus would find it a bit disappointing that his making straight the path to God for the believer would result in the "true religion" requiring a mediator to intercede for that which no longer needed intercession.
The idea that there can be only one "Christian" church and the only path to Him is there is the height of human arrogance.

Catholic vs. Protestant wars are so useless
Both are filled to the brim with complete fakes
I will say that cultural Catholicism seems to have somewhat run its course. For decades you had "Catholics" who paid no heed to their faith at all except when directly asked, and now those types seem less prevalent (so you're left with what appears to me to be a much smaller contingent of legitimate practicing Catholics). I realize I'm saying this on a board where cultural Catholicism is completely baked into the home state.

Stermer family. Levi in the leopard shirt, wife in the hat to his right. They all look self-obsessed and materialistic as expected, very Christian

I think the theological and doctrinal debates are legitimate and in some cases of the utmost significance. I just think the idea of comparing modern protestantism en masse with the Catholic equivalent is useless.
And I think it makes sense for any Protestant to understand how his/her belief system originated, and that includes Catholicism. That said, for all the talk of the appeal of the Catholic Church for historical consistency (I know a number of highly intelligent converts for whom this was a major draw), it's not like it's a good representation of what the early church looked like.

If you're giving 10% of your income to a church, better be calculated from gross income, not take home pay, because God gets his before the government.

Half of them are wearing leopard stuff. Grandma definitely picked out a theme of neutral colors and leopard print
