What years were you at LSU? I never lived in a dorm although I kind of wish I would have freshman year.

In the late 90's there was a little cafe on campus (can't really remember where it was) that started serving Frito Chili Pie. It became an instant hit. Lines out the door waiting for a pie. People were bringing the pies into class. It got so bad that professors would start class with "If anyone here has a Frito Pie, you can either throw it away outside or leave my class."

Is there still a convenience store in front of the Pentagon on Dalrymple? I used to walk there from Kirby to buy a pack of smokes and flirt with the cute girl who worked there.

I lived on the other end of campus and only went to the pentagon once or twice but I feel like I recall there being a little store or something (maybe it was a vending machine thing thought). Def nowhere you could buy cigs that I am aware of. As for Frito pie I don't recall any pies of the Frito variety.

I was there in the 90s but don't remember the Frito Pie place. I was at LSU from 96-00.

I went back part time, mostly at night, and got a 2nd degree in 02-03 but I was already working full time and not living the college life at all by that point.

Ah. This was the mid to late 90s. The convenience store was tucked away in front of the Pentagon. They sold snacks, drinks, and cigs. I want to say they also sold beer, but I could be wrong on that.

I'm wracking my brain trying to remember where it was. It was on campus, and it was a little cafe. The Frito Pie craze was short lived, but potent.

I remember the little store.

I'm sure you remember this place? This video makes me realize how long ago that was. They used to have one on Chimes Street too.

Momma good care of her babies. Last I heard, she closed down. But I think she still sells cook books at a flea market or something.
