Our idea of quality is way more than what it was 50 years ago. Good luck getting a bare bones truck.
That is one thing I'll give you. The price of a damn pick-up truck is absurd now. But then again a lot of that has to do with the fact nobody wants a barebones 3-on-the column truck designed to just be a truck and nothing more.

In the 70s, wearing clothes with patches was normal.
I think every single pair of Sears & Roebuck "Toughskins" I ever owned had at least one knee patch before all was said and done.

They are still overpaid

The problem is, boomers won't freaking retire already. They can't afford to, so we just have to wait until they die off.

Well this thread went about as expected.
I'm still above the curve though

Boomers spent all of our money and bred like rabbits.
Bred like rabbits? I think there was a sharp decline in the number of children boomers had v. their parents.

sorry about the poor
Poor? We were considered well off for the times.
Only the upper crust could afford to get our clothes from places like Sears & Roebuck, JC Penny, or K-Mart back then. Places like Hammers, Dollar Bills or Bargain Town were where the poors shopped. Or more than likely they had to make do with hand-me-downs or yard sales.

Poor or lower middle class. I'm happy for the experience. I can actually relate and hang out with a wide variety of people which is a huge benefit in business.
Most people in the south in the 70s were in this group

Most of my friends who have done well enough to have investment properties own an old work truck. I'm currently shopping for one. I think the market for the bare bones truck is still out there.

True. Not everyone is mobile. Beautiful thing about cities though is they tend to have this place called the suburbs where COL is generally less. A lot of those suburbs still support high wages.
You do realize millennials are moving to cities and suburbs within said cities at a very high rate, right?
Millennials are following the jobs. There's more to it than simply moving to where jobs pay higher wages.

You shouldn't expect a middle aged lifestyle in your 20s. No generation before gas expected or experienced that in large numbers.

I never said millennials should expect a middle aged lifestyle. I was just responding to the poster who said millennials should follow the money, which is generally in the city. Millennials are moving into the city, at a much higher rate than previous generations. That's all.

Largely caused by the introduction of women into the workplace.
Odd that the cost of goods hasn't declined though. Wonder why.
