The week before and until mid 2008 was/is a blur... Lost everything except for my car and a basket of clothes.. My dad passed away the week before so hearing that Katrina, on that Saturday, was headed for New Orleans was a surprise...

If you lost a loved one, or witnessed death first hand, then I can understand feeling some kind of way about that.

But the way some of yall get on here talking of long lasting trauma over material possessions is wild to me.

It was more than just "possessions", even without death. I'll give an example. I lost everything. My parents are separated and they both lost everything. The houses that belonged to both sets of grandparents were gone. My grammar school was gone. My high school was gone. The church I went to all my life was gone. We didn't even get to save a photo albums. It's pretty traumatic to have your entire past/history wiped out. It's not like we're talking about a toaster or a couch.
