The problem with all too many of them is that they seem not to recognize that you can be proud of your state and heritage without disparaging and shitting on everything that isn’t “Texas”

frick those people
Sorry not sorry.

Someone should let the Texans constantly shitting on LA on this board know.

I’ll disagree here..

I pay $2500 /yr taxes on $525k house in LA. If I make $150k, I’ll pay $4500 in state income taxes (3% regardless of income)

That’s a total of $7k.

My buddy lives in Houston, similiar priced house. $12k property taxes.

I come out $5k better

Don’t need to remind myself of anything. I’d love for Louisiana to get its shite together so people can stay there without paying for private school, shitty roads and corrupt government. La needs to create a business environment that provides more opportunities for young people to stay and contribute to building the state.

But none of that has happened in my lifetime and I wanted more from my life than the same old shite that seems to never improve.

And that is a great city. Germans know how to build great cities in America. Look at Huntsville. Nazis aren’t all bad. Very organized

Paying for private school vs great public schools
More job opportunities with higher pay
Lower insurance
No state income tax
No tax on groceries
Traffic here is when you’re only moving 45 mph (Houston excluded)
More flights available from more major airports, many much less expensive
Dual credit courses available starting sophomore year and all transfer to any Texas university

there are plenty of fine, free schools in and around New Orleans and Baton Rouge

traffic is horrific in Austin and dfw

Not necessarily on the housing costs. And I’d MUCH rather pay property taxes that contribute to my local schools and other areas I can actually see benefit than pay taxes in La and wonder where the hell the money is going.
Also. The pay is higher here with many more opportunities for advancement in same or new companies and you get much more for your $$$ on homes here.

Compare those to the local schools here and you just think they are fine.

Maybe Austin but not really DFW. I live here. As I said, traffic is when I can only go 45 mph instead of 80.

And which schools did those credits transfer to? Compare those schools to the academics at UT, aTm, TCU, SMU, Rice, etc.
