Was wondering if I should just steal his whole script and post it in this thread haha.
Same. I was going to link the two videos, but I figured no one was going to spend 20minutes watching them.

Something cool the Cybertruck has that other traditional trucks don't have is the self driving option. I don't think any other truck manufacturer is close to implementing that.
Tesla is ahead of the pack on self driving, but others have begun major investments into this.
Also, I wonder if full auto pilot will be a 7k add on like it is now

quote:Agreed, that's why I conceded the one poster's point about the F450 specs, but mentioned that's really not a Cybertruck competitor/market Tesla is going to focus on.
Nobody that needs/wants a 250 or above will look at Tesla.
quote:Yep. Unless you're driving near or over the range limit often or often find yourself off the beaten path in some random, small towns, I don't really understand this.
ot directed at anyone here but people keep moving the goalposts on EVs. No matter how much the range increases and the charging time goes down it still needs to be better. I hear this from people that literally only drive more than 100 miles in a day 3-4 times a year.
quote:Truest words one can speak on EVs.
Current EVs are indeed not for everyone but a hell of a lot of people would be thrilled with them if they didn't spend so much time looking for a reason to dislike them.

Ford bringing theirs to market next year. I think this is the first big competitor.

Not new. The price is the price.
On one hand, I like that very much.
On the other hand, cybertrucks value prop just got worse.

Looks like a pinewood derby car

quote:Well, when we have all these discussions about what trucks and specs can do at similar prices, I'd argue the total cost of ownership is what we should be using and not purchase price.
For someone who is looking at total cost of ownership it will be very important.
Bu my point still stands, the cheaper cost of ownership is meaningful/relevant, not sure why you'd downplay it.

quote:If you pre-order you're locked into $7k no matter what. So anyone who pre-orders sould add that feature because you can always remove it if you don't want it when it's time to build your vehicle.

But in general, no chance FSD will be $7k 2-3 years from now.

Because total cost of ownership takes 5 years to equal out.
Again, depends on the owner, but 5 years is a long time to own a car for some people.

On one hand, I like that very much.
Order online. Pay them. Car shipped to your house.
That's really it for the most part.

Looks like a hideous crossover.

Because total cost of ownership takes 5 years to equal out.
You can still use 3 years and probably save in the $5-10k range.

What is the market?

A comparable ICE truck.

Obviously. Speaking in averages.

quote:Overall, the market is going to be those folks who buy F150s and similar sized trucks with all the bells and whistles but not necessarily just for the functionality is my guess.
What is the market?
I could be wrong here but I think it's a safe bet that more folks who buy, say, an F150 will do so for style and not necessarily funcationality than an F450 comparably.
This truck isn't likely to corner the market as the tough nosed work truck IMO. It'll be more so for people who just think it's way cooler and better in many ways than the F150s of the world.

For a few thousand they could get em a metal bending machine

It looks so bad it is kinda good.
A buddy has the Tesla Model X and it is pretty neat in what it does. I will say this: The ENORMOUS windshield is a negative in SE Texas during the summer months because that AC can’t keep the cabin cooled appropriately. Also, TESLAs chew up tires something fierce due to their extremely heavy weight. He’s lucky to get 18K miles out of a set. Tesla also puts something in the tires that Discount Tire has a hard time dealing with.
The double or triple motor would be the only viable choices.

So, the Lincoln Blackwood
I do think the truck has a market. It is the luxury market. Which is where the S and X sit. It is an image truck.
