youre not looking for prairieville then. Youre looking for St. Francisville.

This, you will want to go beyond the BR suburbs. North of Zachary is probably the best area for that at the moment. St. Francisville/Ethel is probably where I'd be right now if I didn't have kids.

80%+ work in BR and cause all the traffic but can own a cheap house with lots of flood prone land and send their kids to good public schools.

Houses aren't that cheap in Prairieville.

If you live in the right area of Prairieville, not off Hwy 42, then traffic really isn't that bad.
I live on Old Perkins, and my morning commute to Siegen is usually 20 minutes.

Flood prone? In the 2016 flood, the water never even came into the yards in my neighborhood.

If I HAD to be close to BR, this is where I'd be too.

No, but lived in NOLA from '86 to '88 and BR from '95 til '98.

St. Francisville will get hit once Zachary fills up.

Negative ghost rider building moratoriums have already been passed. DSLD/multi family (aka Zachary) not happening here. That being said it is an incredible little town and all are welcome to pass through and spend your tourism dollars.

You could do worse. I’d say top ten in the state. It’s close to LSU so you can go all events you want. Close to Nola as well for quick day trips. (Out of town by sunset).

Despite what the OT says it’s not that bad. What are the other options

TN or AL.

That’s tough. It depends on how important access to LSU events and proximity to family is to you.

If those are big factors then I’d stick with Prairieville. IMO those two things make me happy.

I agree with the St Francisville recommendation if you want to be somewhere near BR but not in it.

It's reasonably close to BR for doctors, restaurants etc but is a very nice little town. If you are retired you won't have to commute every day anyway.
