Tell me about NOLA St. Patrick’s Day activities

Gonna be there that weekend and never been during that time. Other than don’t buy drugs and don’t walk around after dark, any tips? What’s the scene like? We’re not into the huge Mardi Gras style crowds, but wouldn’t mind seeing some of the parades and festivities. TIA

There use to be a St bernard parade that threw cabbages and carrots and shite and you would use that to make the corned beef and cabbage for the day

Go to the Metairie Road parade. Best parade by far. You’ll come home with sacks of cabbage, carrots, and potatoes.
