Most people that live in places like Central want decent public schools for their kids and less crime than the inner city. Welcome to the suburbs of a mid sized city.
Cities like Central should have followed the blueprint of Madison, MS. Hard restrictions. I wish Watson would incorporate and follow the blueprint.

Op don't move at the end of Frenchtown. The Devil Worshipers will get you.

It does seem that the failing Baker schools have seeped into to the western boundaries of Central; where the lines are blurred.
They really need to widen Sullivan from Wax to Hooper; then Hooper to Joor Rd.

Is Vermont not an option?

The traffic in Central is not the fault of Central. Much like all of EBRP traffic, the problem is people commuting THROUGH the area from neighboring parishes. In the case of central, it's mostly the LP folks cutting through.

You are a few years older than me. But I know that yall would know.my brother. Shocker, people in a central thread would know each other:)
Sounds like we were there at the same time.

The Central Thruway has ruined Central
Yep. Central became Woodlawn when the Thruway opened.
It's not at all the same place.

Don’t move to Dutchtown. The traffic is terrible. Large amount of plant traffic every day and the high school being right on the hwy is a joke. The infrastructure in the ascension area is pitiful.

Central can't afford it. Send them about another hour north and they can have whatever they want. I understand the situation with the school district, but Central could not afford to not be next to Baton Rouge.

I live in Bellingrath Hills and I love living here. Oak Point and the Thruway are a few miles away and is very convenient.

Its not perfect, but Central is one of the last few areas in the area where you feel like your vote matters.
When the Shoecreek development (across from walmart) was pushed through, the entire council and mayor were voted out. Its now not uncommon at council meetings for members to change their votes on certain matters after hearing from the public. They know there is accountability here.
While growing, it does still have a small town feel where you easily bump into friends while out and about. Someone mentioned football games as an example of how things have gone downhill. I see it differently, the stands are packed each home game supporting the team, kids playing in common areas and teens hanging in the new student section.
For those who make the claim of demographics changing, go to CAYL any night of the week where you see a concentration of central families. Its definitely not being “overrun” by BR.
Schools Id say are above average. Definitely not without flaws, but there are some damn good teachers in Central overall.
Lots of well kept older neighborhoods with pretty trees. Citizens take pride in the community. No trash developments like dsld and dr horton.
Again, not perfect but it is definitely a nice place to call home
