I also noticed that it has been particularly bad this week. I never answer calls from unrecognized numbers anymore.

I am one of those people that always keeps their ringer off. I also rarely answer the phone even when I see a call incoming from someone I know, unless I want to speak to that person right then.

Idiots are you who answer and "waste their time".

It's all an automated system.

If you answer the phone and more than 5 seconds go by without you hanging up, you go on the SPECIAL LIST and your phone number gets called 100x more than if you just ignore the calls.

This is a fact.

I tried not answering. It had zero effect.

If your voice mail picks up, or even if it rings instead of giving a "number not in service message", they know it's an active number.

IRS left two messages this week. Papers have been filed in court and I have ignored their requests for six months.

A call back number was given and I felt like calling and telling them they will never take me alive. Realized this would confirm I listened to their message and just ignored.

If you can find a pay phone or public Cortese phone you can call back and troll them. Say your name is Ben Dover or Pete Moss. They won't care as long as they think they have a sucker.
