quote:Virtually every head to head comparison has the Ram infotainment ahead of the F150.
Other than Tesla and Volvo what’s better than the F150? Not sure you have a clue what you’re talking about. Fords infotainment has shite I don’t even need, like movie times, weather with full radar, etc... CarPlay, climate control, built in nav or Apple Maps, waze integration.
What is it missing?
And then, as you stated, when you compare the Ford or GMC to the top of the line, it's not even close.

That infotainment system isn’t even in most of their trucks on the lot

Why would a trucks infotainment system be compared to Tesla?

In 2 years, Tesla will be competing for business, so why would you not compare it?

Competing for what business? Market share of the Light Truck?
Niche market at best, Rivian has a better shot.

Touchscreens in cars are unecessary junk that increase costs.
Not to mention unsafe. Button/ dial controls you can use by feel and keep your eyes on the road.

Had to rent an Altima on Saturday after Thanksgiving to get home ahead of the snow in New England (my dad got 15" in CT). It was a loaded model with ProPilot and I was impressed at how well it worked, especially Nissan's lane centering tech. It wasn't annoying, unlike Subaru's Eyesight.

Are they truly competing?

To steal a line from you, "Not sure you have a clue what you’re talking about" if you think Tesla isn't competing.

You just proved my point with pics, GM interiors are terrible.
That Altima has 10000 better interiors than the Sierra

I’ve been very underwhelmed when looking how brands like Infinity and Toyota seem so far behind as are some trucks
This is the new 2020 Highlander coming out in a week or so.

If you keep a vehicle for 10+ years like I do. Those touch screens are going to suck down the road. The first Ipad came out in 2010. Imagine being stuck with a 1st Gen Ipad today and if it craps out on you. You get to spend thousands to replace that old technology.

Yes

per some website Tesla delivered 367,200 cars worldwide in 2019.
GM sold 735,909 in Q4
Ford sold 2.4 million in 2019.

Don’t do it. It’s cheap Chinese crap. I don’t think there have been many people install those and retain all functionality.
There have been some that have had success with Rhinos. I've been following the progression and improvement for about a year on the Land Cruiser forum (Ih8mud.com). The stock Lexus unit has integrated HVAC Controls in the touchscreen...the Rhinos retain full functionality of that, along with the audio and GPS options.

quote:im not saying they arent competing. Im saying that tesla is a niche market, and there is nothing wrong with that. You tesla people get so bent out of shape when somone disagrees with the notion that Tesla is on the same playing field at GM, Ford, etc. I mean you kinda sound like a ULL fan.
Ok.
Tesla's not competing, sure thing.
Will tesla continue to get more people buying electric, sure. But soon the big boys will have just as good or better electric cars and tesla that sells one thing will be watered down.
Remember Amazon used to be an online book store.
