As much as people like to have a good time and all the events we have in the area, the Civic Center all the way around to the boat rental could be a hell of an area. (We really do not need a beach.)

would love that. honestly wish we could get Tilman to build something like the kemah boardwalk. would be awesome with that around the lake front.

Nic Hunter comes off like he actually cares about LC and not some politician. That guy has done so much, from what I can see, for LC…more than anyone I can ever remember.

well his family has been here a long time. He isnt in it for the money as he was successful with the restruant, more successful than his parents and grandparents. He went to school here and has tons of reasons to see it succeed. I have no doubt he actually cares and would pretty much do anything to see it work.

problem is like eleven said....its a huge undertaking and he is going to need someone to come in with the money. not sure who it is, but needs to be someone that has a vision.

he has done well though getting the couple projects like crying eagle and the muesems going. hopefully by next summer those projects are in full swing and open by 2023.

jury still out on this...everytime I hear him speak he sounds like a career politician...although I do think he cares for LC.

As for the building, our office was there before the storm. I think its coming down. No way they can salvage that for the money. Plus the occupancy was at all time lows. The owners (Hertz Management Group) will be looking at that as a reason to take the money and run IMHO.

As for the lakefront, I'll say it again for the people in the back. LAKE CHARLES IS THE MOST MIS-MANAGED WATER FRONT CITY IN THE WHOLE UNITED STATES. That section of I-10 coming into LC is a DUMP. Its no wonder nobody gets off the interstate right there... Not one bar/restaurant with boat access except for Golden Nugget. Hell the Lake Charles Country Club has their freakin parking lot on the water side of their property.

Definitely needs someone like a Tilman to come in and make a board walk like Kemah.

This actually makes me pretty sad. I worked in that building during its heyday in the early 1990s. The office I worked in was on one of the high floors, and the views were great. The office was beautifully furnished. The building had a good occupancy rate, and there were was even a small restaurant/deli that made very good food. It was a great place to work.

I haven’t lived in SWLA since then, but what happened to make it decline before Hurricane Laura took it out? Do law firms and other businesses no longer need nice offices? I haven’t worked in an office since that time, so I don’t know. Anyway, it does sadden me to know that the old Calcasieu Marine Tower may be gone forever.

Nic Hunter has done nothing for Lake Charles. The guy was a restaurant manager, who is now completely in over his head. He has no idea how to effectively lead the City. What has he done that is "so much"? Nothing - just like Mount and Roach before him.

Define need? Is it necessary in today’s day and age, nope. Is it still preferred by some companies, I guess it depends on what they like.

Perhaps “need” was too strong a word. However, back in the day, most well-known law firms and other offices maintained nice office space. That environment makes the business or firm seem more successful to clients, which is a plus. Perhaps this is no longer the standard, though.

I think back in the day, it was a very nice office and was the place to be seen. But then all the banks moved out, foot traffic went down, and they kept going up in rent.

However in today's world, most people in LC area like having their own space, their own parking, etc. Heck we doubled our square footage and bought our own place and the note went down.
