Taking class at LSU w/o prerequisite

Has anyone ever tried to make this happen? Theres a class I need to take this fall to graduate on time but one of the prereqs is another class I'm taking. Who should I go ask about this or how much of a chance do I stand?

I thought, (and this was based off of the 1999 rules and class system so it may have changed) that as long as you take the prereq at the same time as the other class, it's all kosher.

Scruffy's sister took organometallics without one of the prereqs.
She went and talked with the dept head.

Department head will eventually have to okay it, but many departments don't like doing it because it pisses off accreditation boards.

That just depends on the major and if its non major course or not. If its a bogus class, they usually will be more lenient.

If you've made enough face time with your advisor through your college career and it's reasonable, they should wave the prerequisite requirement. Or simply explain to him/her that YOLO.

He was saying she did something with her mouth that didn't involve her voice box.

One time, I signed up for this class in the fall semester. Near the end of the semester, I dropped it and took a W.
However, before I dropped it, I had already scheduled my classes for the spring semester. The class I dropped was a prerequisite for one of the classes I had signed up for in the spring.
There was never a hold or anything on that class. I took it in the spring and never heard a word from anyone.
CSB. I'm awesome.

Oooooohhh...
Well, glad Scruffy's mind didn't go that direction about his sister.
Carry on.

I would go to your advisor and explain the situation and that you need this class to graduate on time. Also tell them you are also going the take the prerequisite class at the same time. I don't see there would be any issue. I mean why would LSU stop you for graduating on time.

I did this a few times on the premise that it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission. Just signed up for them. Only was caught once, when I had to go back and take the first course even though I had already passed the course it was a prerequisite for.

Sorry Scruffy. I don't generally mess with posters I like. That was just too easy.

I would not be a thread on the OT if some didn't do this

Took two marketing classes for my business major. One of which was a prerequisite for the other class. Just talk to your adviser, stupid.
