Called it when the statue removal push first gained momentum.....if they got their way with the city removing a few statues, they're just going to find something else to bitch about next. SJW's are perpetually offended by something, so it was only a matter of time

First, I disagree...and do so being a white middle aged guy who is perfectly comfortably acknowledging that I have almost certainly had an easier road than black men of my exact age and location, as my father did with his contemporaries, and my grandfather with his, etc. Doors and opportunities almost CERTAINLY opened up more easily because I'm white. Didn't make my life easy, but in comparison to the average black man my age, it was easier no doubt.

You can accept that fact AND dislike the notion of removing historical landmarks to appease today's flavor of the month reactionary bullshite. Mostly, because at some point EVERYONE can and will be righteously offended by one thing or another. Acquiescing to that is a recipe for disaster and constant civil unrest. And to do what you did and to reduce the opposition side to "if you support X than the only reason is you're the worst thing EVER" is either purposefully obtuse or just lazy thinking. Pick one.

Second...even if I didn't think these monuments have a place and should remain, at what point do even middle of the road folks decide to stand up and say, "Nah...you're going too far," when what is clearly the fringe of one side of the aisle doesn't just DEMAND things happen that they want but begin forcibly taking action illegally to get what they want? At some point even those who don;t care about the bronze and cement here can stand up on principle...right?

I think this is where we are getting, and fast. And not to sound like that asswart in the White House that thinks talking a big game in regards to an issue like North Korea is the smart move, do these idiots on the fringe left REALLY understand what they are getting themselves into by advocating violence against the very far right? While these folks have been gathering in coffee shops worrying about trans issues and safe spaces, the edge of the right has been legally buying guns and end of the world prepping. It's like watching a baby walk into a wood chipper...makes zero sense.

You keep saying that you're against both sides and that you're not in support of either side. Yet the only things you've said have been against the white supremacists and for the BLM.

I, unlike you, truly don't support either group. Therefore, I really have no big opinion on the statues other than the fact that they are already there, why waste time and money to remove them when they are doing no harm. There is no goal to put up another monument/statue in its place. So explain, what is the point in taking these down, on a strictly logical, unemotional, basis. The government should only be doing things that are economical/logical. If it doesn't improve the city, cut spending, or bring in additional income, it shouldn't be done. Ex...Fixing the pumps would improve the city by maintaining what exists and cut spending by not creating additional damage that now has to be repaired.

I think this is a pretty important point that doesn't get brought up as much as it should.
