This is the first time I’ve heard of a scam through text.

Sunday afternoon I received a text from a computer generated number (number consisted of several 0’s and 1’s). The text stated:

Your card has been put on review for suspicious activity. Please call (different phone number) for more information.

I instantly felt suspicion but I called out of curiosity because I have been contacted before by the fraud dept. of my company credit card. When I called, it was a recording that sounded very professional but never stated what card company. Just said “press 1 to report card stolen, press 2 for card information”. I pressed 2 and then asked me for my card number. That’s when I hung up.

Just a PSA to spread the word that scammers are always coming up with new ways to fool you old people.

Well now they have your number down as a potential sucker.

Good luck with that.

Why didn't you just call your card company?

Crazy how easy these scams are to identify yet they still manage to dupe certain demographics.

My dad is starting to show signs of aging and he called me asking about some ransomware on his phone. Said he almost paid it then hung up on them and called me to see if I knew anything.

My neighbor lady is really old and is caught up in a pyramid scheme. She was trying to get me to sign up under her for it and I told her it was a pyramid scheme and explained to me how it worked. . . definitely a pyramid.

People who prey on the old are scum.
