This is it, right?
You sacrifice for your family - your personal hopes and selfish ambitions. Your free time for years. You work a job you feel overqualified for and make decent money thinking you could have done something else. You hear about others who have done it, it being that thing. You know that thing? The “I could climb Mount Everest” thing you’ve got in your head?
You do what a man does for years. Decades. You support others. You raise them and provide for them through blood, sweat, and tears. You callous your daydreams and silence your barbaric YAWP and are lauded by good Christian men who have toiled their own land through strife and heat. You spend decades unlearning what your childhood self taught you without guidance and divert your full mind and energy to hunt, kill, and drag it home.
And what is the end of the day?
Chicken stew on a Sunday. Waiting alone for the family to come. To say yum and hug your neck and leave and call you maybe a week later. Maybe two weeks.
The struggle is real, but it is somehow worth it if we all turn our wheels toward the same weathered path.

I swear to baby Jesus if you start one of your stupid ornery drunk arse threads tonight, I'm calling that priest friend of yours and tell him you have a crush on him.

The wife has been at bed side with her Mom the past 6 weeks. MIL can last a hour or another day.
My daughter, I see her just about every day, if not, she calls me. Family is everything to me and my family.
The wife is here just waiting for our daughter and her family to break bread.

Just doing 10 lbs or so of chicken thighs on bbq. Grilling some broccoli. Smothering some cabbage and throwing in slices of smoked sausage. Potato salad. Nothing fancy, just normal bbq. Probably do some pork n beans too.

Just prepared a brining solution for the chicken wings. Will soak for four hours and put on the grill after 5.
Couple of bottle of champagne from Masons and all is really ok.
May take a nap.
