Tell the dept head that he also threatened you with a lower grade if you tried appealing it.

It really isn't, and any number of factors can affect you not getting an email. Things like that should be done in class to ensure everyone receives it. I think you have a case, the key is always keep going over someone's head, eventually they will cave...

Definitely. That's bullshite. I have the emails to document it too, which is kind of ironic since this case is built on a missed email.

email is not a guaranteed method of communication.
come on man..
if its not addressed in class, email is not a way to change assignments. things like this are addressed in class. professor should at least mention in class hey i sent out an email pertaining to the project. if you havent received it, let me know.

Just tell the dean that you temporarily lost internet access due to illegally pirating adult movies and thus never received the email.
That should be enough to clear your name.

I received a very poor grade on a final project even though all specifications on the syllabus were followed. I did not follow one NEW specification the professor casually tossed in an email that was mixed up with all of my other emails and he's trying to tell me that he can take off 25% of my grade because of it. I'm stating that because I followed what the syllabus and all other official documents stated that I should receive full credit, because all of the content was given perfect marks. He's saying that his email in which he put 3/4 of the way down a new specification without any emphasis on it is good enough. His TA is just a bitch who thinks she is a dean. The issue took me from an A to a C and I'm pissed. ETA: The new specification had to do with the length of one of my arguments in the project. Because it was short based upon some bullshite system he decided to add a couple weeks ago in that email, I lost all my points.
take that shite to the dept head. what class is this for? typical self-important idiot professor

That is my plan, I just hope it works.

That's partially why I want to go over his head. He has told me that should I appeal it, I face having my grade lowered because he will go back over the project entirely again, which I find to be complete bullshite. What's the point of a grade appeal if he can just lower it at will?
if this is documented, bring it to the dean and enjoy the A

. I have the emails to document it too,
depending how that email is worded, that could be the dagger for the professor in this appeal.
print that email out and bring it with you to meet the dept head.

Wow. You might have a tough time in the real world.

his word aginst the teacher's that this didn't happen.
i would assume that he did mention this in class at least once at some point.
I wonder how many people in the class missed the email if only an email was sent. If it happened to several, you might have more of a case. if it is just OP, he is likely SOL for being innattentive.

thats the big thing imo. if this wasnt mentioned in class at all, thats bullshite for the professor to do. if it was mentioned in class and student wasnt there to hear it, well no argument there

Any prof worth a shite would have notified in class, sent an email, and posted an updated syllabus. Along with another email reminding you to please read up dated syllabus.

He could post the email here

Looking back over my emails, the first time he truly even clarifies the new specification was after I submitted and received my grade. I can also play stupid and say that I still followed what he said, just misinterpreted it.
I know this is confusing, I'm just trying to stay away from giving away all of my details.

I think your chances are slim to none. You didn't follow instructions and didn't meet the requirements of the assignment, why should you get an A?
If you are going to take this Email isn't a valid form of communication angle, find out how many of your classmates botched the assignment too before you go over the professor's head.

I agree

In his clarification email AFTER it was graded and returned, he stated that this was the most common reason people had large amounts of points taken off, so I do not think I'm the only one.
