I don't normally but I can't agree with you more on this MontyFranklyn!
It's sad really that people have lost the ability to debate politics and I do blame the politicians for this. The two party system is one of the biggest causes of why we are where we're at.
By the way, Libertarians are espousing this message but both Republicans and Democrats demonize them because I think they both know that they are a real threat to their voting blocs. I try all the time to talk to my black Neighbors about libertarianism and very few people in general understand it or know much about it but they always seemed pretty receptive to the message because a message of Liberty and freedom is appealing to everyone. They just have to understand that means you can't tell other people how to live and that you're truly on your own. I think the social conditioning of black folks by democrats have them believing that they can't rely on themselves and that they need the greater Society to take care of them. This ideology disgusts me and it's one of the reasons why, for as much shite as they get, I've always stuck up for the Black Panthers. Yes, I know they're Marxists for the most part but they had the right idea by trying to take care of their own and Empower black people to take care of themselves and fully exercise all their constitutional rights
For what it's worth, I only have one neighbor and he's directly across the street from me and he's a black guy and a libertarian.

Perhaps. The alternative is just sickening. It amazes me from an ideological standpoint how anyone that works for a living can be a republican.
I think a lot of people get caught up in the messaging of the two parties and don't really pay attention to the actual politics and legislation. I don't blame them as it's hard to sort through all the bullshite and most people don't have time to examine all the legislation that goes through.
I think both Democrats and Republicans try to paint the other in a way that they're not. You probably think Republicans believe in things that they actually don't and vice versa. I'm not saying that some don't but their actual platform and ideologies are grossly different then what Democrats attempt to portray.
They try to get people to believe that Republicans are racists and hate poor people and in my experience, nothing could be further from the truth. The real difference is that they just have a different philosophy on how you bring people out of poverty and they also don't view race the same way. By that I mean, they don't actually consider race when dealing with people who they feel are respectable individuals.

quote:I feel they had a Marxist approach because of where blacks fit in society at the time. They just wanted to be left alone and allowed to build the community themselves without interference from outside sources. I have stated and truly believe that blacks would have flourished if truly left alone. Examples like Black Wall Street are proof of such.

Well now they are left alone. Well, no one is truly left alone, our government is way too intrusive but I don't think any specific groups are targeted like they may have been in the past, especially at the local level. I think the biggest issue is the pointless war on drugs but that effects everybody equally except maybe Asians.
I think many urban blacks suffer from cultural tunnel vision in that they dont truly trust the process of American success. Many don't have good examples around them to take from. Theyre just as capable as anyone else but they have to believe it.
Of all the Midnight basketball and other corny Community projects for black folks there is one that works really really well and has a strong track record and that's the mentorship programs that place successful respectable black folks in the lives of young impressionable kids with shity home lives. My wife has a couple clients that have seen this work firsthand better than anything else
