According to a new study, needy people are the ones most likely to be having an affair. Neediness from either partner is also more likely to cause infidelity in a relationship. The study, led by psychologist Michelle Russell at Florida State University, concluded that insecure people are those most likely to stray.
We got dudes out here mate guarding and keeping their girls on a leash. Telling broads how much they need them and how great they are. Kissing they arse. Got broads acting needy. Got dudes encouraging neediness. Can't have an independent thought or make a decision without they man around. Always talking about some emotions. Emotional dependence going bother ways. Got people terrified of the idea of not being in a relationship.
Come on bruhs. I've been telling you needy arse dudes these hoes ain't loyal, especially the needy ones.

With a sample of over 200 newlywed couples, Russell and her coauthors investigated personality, attachment style, marital satisfaction, sexual activity, and infidelity (of self or partner) over the course of from 3-1/2 to 4-1/2 years. The couples completed the questionnaires 6 times during this period.

The anxiously attached were the most likely to cheat on their partners. In fact, if either partner was anxiously attached, the couple had higher odds of one of them being unfaithful. Those with a partner who had an Avoidant Attachment style actually had the lowest rates of infidelity.

If either partner communicates extreme neediness and worry about the relationship’s stability, this seems to be enough to set the stage for one or both of them looking elsewhere for emotional closeness.
quote:
People with a dismissive style of avoidant attachment tend to agree with these statements: "I am comfortable without close emotional relationships", "It is important to me to feel independent and self-sufficient", and "I prefer not to depend on others or have others depend on me." People with this attachment style desire a high level of independence. The desire for independence often appears as an attempt to avoid attachment altogether.

People with anxious-preoccupied attachment type tend to agree with the following statements: "I want to be completely emotionally intimate with others, but I often find that others are reluctant to get as close as I would like", and "I am uncomfortable being without close relationships, but I sometimes worry that others don't value me as much as I value them." People with this style of attachment seek high levels of intimacy, approval, and responsiveness from their attachment figure. They sometimes value intimacy to such an extent that they become overly dependent on the attachment figure.

You can let your wife know how awesome they make your life without being the type of "needy" the article is talking about.

People who require constant affirmation from others to augment their own perceived happiness need to be avoided at all costs.

Sure but you can't do it every 5 minutes, Lunch. You can't make her a sandwich and then tell her you'd die without her.

We've discussed it before. There's no need to do this. You and I both know...

Seems like a pointless study to me. Of course needy people are going to cheat. Their life revolves around acceptance and affirmation.

This pretty much sums up cheating. Whether it be an emotional affair or a physical one. Or both.
