Students save 5-year-old from pit bull attack

JONESVILLE, La. (KNOE) - A Jonesville family is rejoicing after students saved their 5-year-old from a pit bull attack. The family says it happened earlier in October.

Micah Jones says she was going to a neighbor's house to get some popsicles. She says everything happened so fast, but she remembers the dog started chasing her.

Luckily, Jones' family members say, two Block High School football players were around. Chadwick Green and Kenneth Davis say they did not think twice about helping Jones.

"We did what we had to do," Green said.

Green said the dog is nearly 120 pounds. He said the dog was dragging Jones when he ran up to help.

"We saw a stick on the ground and a brick. Kenneth picked up the brick, and I picked up the stick," Green said.

Green said they took the necessary measures to save Jones. Davis said there was no way they could ignore her screams for help.

"The dog had the girl by her head, and she was just kicking and screaming," Davis said.

The boys said they were able to stop the first attack on Jones, but after the dog noticed she was getting away, he came after her again. The dog injured Jones on her back, buttocks, and the top of her head.
