He wrote a book about it and it's been awhile since I've read it but I believe they were basically transported by boat through several locations including Korea. I think they somehow ended up being marched to the northernmost Japanese occupied areas and were eventually liberated by the Russians during their short time of eastern front engagement.

He's still alive and living in the Lafayette area.

Wow. Interesting. I guess they either took him to Manchuria or perhaps the Kuril Islands and that's where he ended up with the Russians.

But didn't the guy who shot him later set himself on fire out of guilt?

Nope, the guy that shot him was vindicating the death of one of his trusted men and that man's 80 year old mother who was killed despite assurances he was saving her life.

Did the definition of clickbait change? I always thought it referred to a sensational article that was only written to draw clicks to a website.

I think it's any time a title deliberately leaves out, and eludes to, pertinent information rather than summarizing it.

But you're missing the point of this thread, I had a perfectly executed racist joke on the first page.

Just finished watching the interview. Looks like he did end up in Manchuria.

I also never knew that he found out his brothers were dead (one was my grandmother's first husband) from a random barber in Crowley.

I think it's weird that a Vietnamese army general became a pizzeria owner in Virginia.

No, they got dispersed after a while. I read one prisoner survived and went camp to camp, each being worse and worse. Lasted from Bataan till the end of the war, where he was being held in Japan. After the victory he died by being struck by a can that fell out of parachuted supplies from an American plane.

I know a gentleman name Mike (in his 50s, I think, maybe early 60s) in Lafayette with the same last name. Any chance you're related. Great guy.

Well, you'd be wrong. The only foreign cars that I own are a McLaren 12c, CLK63 AMG Black Series and my wife's C350 and GLC300. My others 2 are an F150 and a CTSV.
But I'm sure I have some Japanese electronics in my house. Regardless, that doesn't change my feelings toward them.
