Water level monitoring map from NOAA

LINK

Astronomical High tide is at 1:30 PM EDT in Jacksonville and is 5.2 feet. Storm tide will add to that. Tide is already 2.5 feet above normal. Total water level will be something to watch.

Core of Matthew (and beginning of real surge) is up to around offshore of Palm Coast now. It will be pretty close timing wise for worst case timing with high tide.

Ah, but the cooler mornings haven't been too bad for Dallas and this weekend should be perfect though. Maybe not quite to running weather just yet. Perhaps we'll actually have a winter?

It will be interesting to see how Floridians ultimately view this storm. You always seem to have a large contingent of folks who are upset when things weren't nearly as as bad as they could have been, which is a bit perplexing.

Maybe next year...

ETA Hey Butch!

Those people complaining about the fact that it didn't get that bad will be the LSU fans mad because Fla canceled our game.

Good morning from NW of Orlando. All is well in this area. We have gusty winds and a pretty good amount of rain. Nothing horrible. We still pave power and Innerwebz so life is pretty good.

Yeah, the ole 'Boy Who Cried Wolf' syndrome.

Floyd was a miss for Florida but devastated NC.

Matthew so far is a brush for Florida but may cause some problems for GA and SC.

The next one - ???

I hope people that are in harm's way near the coast still evacuate for the next one.

Yep. The main takeaway should be how big of a difference 30-40 miles makes and hopefully not a complete disregard for future warnings.

Any word on Savannah, GA? TWC hasn't mentioned a word about what they can expect.

Dodged a bullet here in Orlando. Hurricane wall passed by about 10 miles offshore of Cape Canaveral; that helped a lot. Gonna grill, watch b-ball playoffs tonight and Tiger football tomorrow.

Savannah may not see a landfall for the winds, but the surge there will be bad
