Stimulus Idea

My dad has a 2012 Thor Hurricane 31ft RV. 30k miles. It's currently parked uncovered and has been so for about 4 years. They no longer use it for personal reasons.
I approached him about dropping some of my stimulus into the RV to get it running. Likely going to need new battery, new tires, tune up, and the roof likely needs to be sealed from all of the sun exposure.
It doesn't leak, but surely there is damage from the sun exposure.
Seems like a good idea to me to drop about 3k or 4k into it to get a quality RV. I have 6 year old and 18 month old to enjoy it with.
Should I move on or sink my stimulus into this?

If you have an RV to sell, you shouldn't get a stimulus.

This is the OT. None of us get stimulus checks, we all make too much.

I would absolutely put a few bucks in it and take those babies camping.

As long as you're prepared to spend the same amount on a regular basis to keep it up and running, it's a good idea. Lot's of people I know that have RVs have to constantly sink more and more money into them to keep them operating efficiently.
They say it's just like owning a plane or a boat. The best days are day 1 and the day you sell it.

I don't have an RV to sell. My dad owns it.
He's not looking to sell it. Told me to enjoy it.

The engine might need work after laying up for 4 years

Is the stimulus money the only reason you would be able to afford this? If the answer is yes, you shouldn’t do it.

No. Had the idea last year during the Pandemic but didn't want to invest b/c of the unknown. It was not a priority.
It's still not a priority. More like an opportunity. That's why I was interested to hear what other people think.
