The Advocate

I posted this because I found a comment in it that sums up government and wanted to share

quote:

Senate Finance Chair Eric LaFleur, D-Ville Platte, said he thinks that the bill, which would cut most state agencies by about 25 percent while fully-funding health care priorities, illustrates "just how bad the problem is" for constituents. "This is not the budget that we want, but at least we spell out what it is that we want," he said.

So not only are they going to rack up some overtime for yet another special session, the head of the Senate Finance Committee is boo hooing because spending for state government is finally getting trimmed.

And dedicated state pension funding will remain the largest budgetary problem.

Mitch gets more than 80k/year for some part time work he did while he was a state rep. How many assholes are riding that gravy train?

Sen. Karen Carter Peterson, a New Orleans Democrat, urged the Senate to reject passing a budget bill until more revenue can be raised in the special session.

Translation: We should be given a chance to tax the middle class and up before cutting our wasteful spending.

25% is a good start. I worked for the state and everybody only worked half of the day. Cut it by 50% and make everybody work the hours they have on their timesheet.

It’s time for a constitutional convention in this state.

It's the Democrat way (big government) so even cutting that much is devastating to them.

It all comes down to how much "pork" those no good sons of bitches will/will not get. That's all they really worried about.

They are cutting the regular session short, so no more OT.

Medicaid is a disaster but most of that funding comes from the Feds.

The biggest reason for our annual budget shortfall is constitutionally protected, irresponsible pension funding (or underfunding to be more accurate), followed by an even more irresponsible Constitutional amendment in 1987 that requires every recipient of state funds to use a portion of that money to pay off the unfunded pension liability.

It's already starting thanks to the oil and gas lawsuits.
