70% won’t be practicing full time e in 10 years...same with dentistry. What a fricked up mess .

This is a valid comment. I know of two young female dentists, less than 2 years out of dental school, that got married, left where there were practicing, and moved out of state. And neither married men that were employed in the medical field.

It’s hard to be a white male these days.

It’s especially difficult when you’re completely unqualified to make it into med school. Amirite 99.99% of the OT???

I don't know if you have kids but if you had a son would you be ok with him being passed up on a scholarship because of his sex or skin color?

Because that's happening now and who knows what that will look like in 15 years. The left loves to rant about racism but they support a lot of racist policies.

Asians are openly discriminated against because they were taking too many academic scholarships at elite universities. I don't know how anybody could support stuff like that unless you are a direct beneficiary. That might make you a hypocrite but I'd understand it at least

First off, no I don’t have kids.

Second, this happened in the reverse for, well, forever in American history. I don’t think it’s ok regardless, but the “wait what about discriminating against white men!” thing is difficult to back. And I’m a white man.

Third, if or when I have a child, I will raise him or her to strive for the best and know that sometimes things in the world are out of their control. So if they have to attend Columbia over Harvard, they will still find a way to be successful.

So you're ok with present day racism to make up for racial injustices 60+ years ago? I just can't follow that logic or how it's ever going to make anything better. Sorry but that goes against every idea that I have about "equality"

Ok, let’s start with this simple premise:

Do you have any proof or validity that those chosen were not worthy of their spots? Because if not you’re just looking at this list and assuming a white man was passed over. I’m not saying it didn’t happen. But I would pose the exact same question to someone who saw a list of 12 white men who received these residencies and claimed discrimination. And let’s be honest, if 12 white guys were on this list and an article was written by a woman or minority claiming discrimination, this board would love the chance to say “well they were the best so just be better race and gender means nothing!”

Second, present day racism exists. Amongst every culture. None of it is ok. But can we just admit that we’ve been on the winning side of racism for a really long time and maybe that’s not cool?

It’s insane to think this bullshite is happening in the medical field of all places. It should be based on merit, plain and simple, and nothing else. MCAT waiver this, MCAT waiver that, all in the name of equality is dangerous, extremely dangerous.

I do not in this particular instance but it's not hard to find cases of this actually happening.

Racism is mostly a giant boogeyman in the US in modern times but it will always exist in some form or fashion I suppose. Diversity quotas are racist though whether you support them or not.

So then you’re crying racism/discrimination with no proof of racism/discrimination?

I like to call that “Gary Chambersing”

It's what the conversation has been about ITT and I didn't start it but I'm surprised about the support for it whether it happened in this particular case or not.

I'd prefer my airline pilot to be an old fart like you. Preferably grey hair and at least 50. Race isn't necessarily important

unfortunately that cancer has metastasized in this business as well, right now, to be hired as an airline pilot, it's more important to be of color or one of the "alphabets" than it is to be experienced and qualified

ETA: old fart like you.

and thanks, btw, thanks a lot
