Please do not use them. They tell you wayyy less than what other charts could.

The trade-off is ease in seeing the total trend vs. numeric values for the individual points. You can still judge the relative values at each point, but it's more qualitative than quantitative. Also useful when there are so many series that bars would be too narrow.

The Eastern Region manager found out this chart was coming out earlier in Q4 and he/she popped the whip.
