I just found this and it has the full history. You can start at 2001 if you want to just focus on the ones we are talking about.
By the time I paid much attention to shoes I had the 993s around 2010, then the 990 with the red lettering replaced them. Those were pretty cool but I always preferred the 993 because they felt a little comfier. The new 990 they have replaced the old ones with are super ugly though. The best option if you want a new pair is finding the website they sell the older 993 at. I think they are running on old stock from a few years ago. The day they run out will be a sad day for me.
