I'm in Louisiana quite frequently.

This is the OT, not a Vassar book club. Don't get your feelings hurt so easily.

That statement explains a great deal.

Just curious as to why you'd go out of your way to post that, is all.

Not replying necessarily to you..

New Orleans is the most well known and most visited part of LA but to locals and people that have spent most of their lives in LA, there are better parts than a smelly street that sells hand grenades.

Don't get me wrong, I go there every time I go home but there are better parts.

Unless your family is from there then there isn't really anything great about LA. Besides New Orleans it's the same as Mississippi, Alabama, and East Texas

If you're talking landscapes, then sure. But if you're including culture, did you really just dump Acadiana in with Alabama, Mississippi, and East Texas?

I lived in New Orleans for a long time. If you're a local and you go to Bourbon street for anything, you're doing it wrong.

I thought Athens was pretty nice, if that's included in "surrounding areas."

LA just has one of the most unique culture's in the entire country, world renown cuisine, and the best inshore and off shore fishing.

It's a mixture of French and hillbilly culture that adds up to something we call "cajun." With the exception of New Orleans, a city that had one of the highest crime rates in America before Katrina, there really is nothing to write home about the state of Louisiana.

I think they're like an hour apart. I agree, Athens is nice

Really? I disagreed with you. To show that I disagreed I wanted to contribute American currency amounting to three fourths of a dollar to the fund the other chap mentioned. The protest to your negative attitude regarding the great state of Louisiana, was small.

Now I'm curious as to why you were so greatly offended by an offhanded comment on a Louisiana sports message board about your dislike for Louisiana. You had to know it wouldn't be warmly received.

Upstate New York is surprisingly beautiful.

The area around Lake George and Lake Champlain is really nice. I enjoy driving and riding boats around there.

Southern Louisiana is very similar to Southern Mississippi and Southern Alabama. "Cajun" culture is only good for food and music. There's nothing special about swamp trash

Plenty of polls back me up. Even people who live in Louisiana wish they could live elsewhere. I figured most people would agree.
