You understand that you have to work to achieve that. The problem is the majority doesn't understand that nowadays. You can easily make plenty money without a degree, however depending on work ethic and motivation you can achieve that a few years sooner with a degree. It all depends on the individual.

No college. Put there is the stigma of being a piper...Doesn't look like they give a shite.

Nice!

Everyone can try at least a year at college. And if they don't, they are really not thinking with an open mind.
After that, I will say the best advice my older brother ever gave me. "You can have one really great year in college or 4 really good years. And those really good years will set you up for life. That really great year will set you up for only memories. "

Only if you think that your kid is doomed without it.
Which they are not. Me, personally, I think it's a waste of time outside of medical and engineering degrees.
Some very useful links from a guy who went to an Ivy league school.

Partying takes money. If your parents don't bankroll you with enough money to party (mine didn't) and your major is especially time demanding (like mine was), college isn't 4 years of partying. It's mostly just homework, tests, and classes. I can totally get why someone would skip that to go straight to work where they make 50k/year straight out of high school and get hammered every night at the Texas Club.
Yeah I don't see how anyone has time to party or do anything if they have a demanding college major. I feel all I do is homework.

Well, the world needs ditch diggers...
The fun is when everyone else thinks they're above ditch digging. All of a sudden, when nobody else is willing or able to dig their own ditches, ditch digging becomes very lucrative.
So, yeah, you can make a good living without going to college. Replace "ditch digging" with "carpenter", "mechanic", "plumber", etc. You get the idea.

Yea, frick partying and having no responsibility for 4+ years
If this is your idea of what college should be about, then you should not be in college wasting someone's money (either yours, the taxpayers, or your parents). College is for preparing for your future career first and foremost and requires a great deal of responsibility. It's ok to have fun, but only when it does not interfere with maximizing grades to get the best job out of college.

It's comments like this, that make me realize, that a good bit of people have absolutely no idea what "blue collar" or skilled trade careers actually entail. There's so much ignorance of this topic, it's pitiful.
Just let them be ignorant. Parents paying off 200k in student loans on a PhD in anthropology is what slowly bleeds a family dry. Education is changing drastically right now, most will look back in twenty years and wonder how they ever fell for the same bullshite their parents did.

Who is pushing for a PhD in anthropology? A degree in accounting or engineering will guarantee a good paying job for life. Oh, and attending an in-state public school like LSU does not result in massive student loan debt, especially if you meet the embarrassingly low TOPS requirements. I know many people with a college degree who graduated without a dime of student loans because they had TOPS and worked through college to pay living expenses.

Then, unless you're making A's in premed, you wasted a frickton of your parents' money. Grats.

I have a degree in chemical engineering. I believe whole heartedly that someone should go to college if they know what they want to do, and a degree in that field is worth the investment. Unfortunately that's not true for about 95% of the students or majors on campus.

Certainly it is assumed that the college degree pursued would be an actual employable one. If the OP's son goes to college just to get an art history or English degree, then he is far, far better pursuing his original plan of skipping college. I can't for the life of me understand why TOPS would be allowed for degrees that we don't have a demand for in the state.

One of my daughters is a dental hygienist. She went to school for two years, didn't want to spend 4 years in school. She makes pretty good money.
