Greet guest in a timely manner. Always there to refill drinks, and don't mess up the order. Pretty much it.

Prompt service and a decent attitude. Cleavage is a plus.

Polite and accurate. Timeliness probably depends more on management adaquately staffing and training the waiters and kitchen staff.

Be friendly but don’t chit chat and keep my drink filled. That’s about it to get 25%

Must be attentive without being a pest. I expect the server to stop in shortly after each course comes out to see if anything else is needed, and also monitor drinks without being asked.

Pet peeves are not bringing side plates for bread or appetizers, and not clearing dishes in a timely manner.

I expect them to be pleasant and to keep our drinks filled. I prefer that they be friendly and enjoyable to interact with.

We let them know up front that we like our drinks to stay filled. We uphold our end of the deal by acting like decent human beings and not being demanding or nit picky. We are friendly and respectful with the wait staff.

I guess we are weird in that we actually ENJOY tipping. It is nice to be able to make someone's day better by giving them a really decent tip and letting them know you appreciated their service.

Same with pizza delivery. Even if we just order one pizza, we still give the delivery guy a $10+ tip. Why? We appreciate them coming to us when we are to lazy to go out to eat. So we tip them very well and let them know how much we appreciate them and what they do.
