Spin-off: did you have a friend who played with or watched Gobots over Transformers?

I only met one. I went over to his house and he tried to tell me "Cy Kill" would beat Optimus Prime and Megatron. And then he had a host of others I had never heard of.

I remember Gobots coming out first and getting a little interest from people but Transformers caused people to completely forget about them.

Gobots were built for Happy Meals. Most were affordable anyway. But transfomers...especially after the new wave of them were released in 86...were often 50 bucks to 100. I had the gun "Shockwave" (not to be confused with Soundwave) and my dad bought him for me at Cortana...you would have thought he wanted me to mow 100 lawns.

Gobots were terrible. You usually got them from grandmas or aunts that didn't know the difference and you'd silently curse them in your mind.

I was the kid with a Gobot or two. My parents didn’t have a lot of money at the time and Transformers were pretty expensive. I was pretty disappointed at first cuz all the cool kids had Transformers, but I still enjoyed my Gobots.
