what's the significance of it generating a vapor cone that everyone is so worked up about?

Feels like looking down the barrel of a loaded gun. Beautiful, but scary.

I don't understand why they didn't put actual satellites on there rather than blades of metal that do nothing besides create more space junk. If you aren't certain enough to put them into the rocket, we are a long ways away from putting humans on it.
It is impressive that they were able to landing everything as intended after their planned anomalies. On a visual level, I loved them leveraging their network to send down HD views after MECO. I don't think we've seen sunset videos of that quality from space before this.

They were basically just testing the door and the mechanism that spits them out. They won’t be space junk. They were never in orbit so they’ve already burned up in the atmosphere.

Correct... Starship was never "orbital" b/c it wasn't ready for that yet
Putting real satellites into space would've meant getting Starship to an "orbital" speed & altitude
These Starlink sims that were released fell back into the atmosphere where they burned up... they are not space junk b/c they never got to an "orbital" speed or altitude
Now... with Flight 10's success... they might be ready for going orbital very soon... if not in IFT-11

This entire launch test from beginning to end was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Amazing what they have accomplished
While it's a long way from interstellar travel, we're closer than ever thanks to SpaceX

The fact that it's finished its flight profile 3 times (4 times? I lost count) while the SpaceX crew was trying to destroy it actually shows how resilient Starship really is

Elon announced if all goes well... Starship v3 will try a tower catch for the 1st time somewhere between IFT-15 & IFT-17

Those new videos are amazing

There was a question of whether or not they could even generate a transonic vapor cone or at least one that would be visible.
