Interstellar? Not possible...yet. But apparently there really are an exception or two to faster than light travel.

We will never see it unless the ETs finally show up. But a hundred years? A thousand? Ten thousand? Maybe we still won't be there.

I think the test will be surviving ourselves for the next millennium. Then it could very well be shown to us.

I have before and hope to again. I toured it last Friday as part of a contract we're bidding.

It's not about us trying to achieve space objectives. It's about artificial intelligence. Waitbutwhy did an incredible article on this subject.

Many leading minds believe we are less than 20 years from level 1 AI. There are two possible outcomes. either it ends our existence or makes us immortal.

there is really no way to predict anything beyond that as our brains don't have the capacity. Many scientists believe that within hours of becoming self aware the AI will be smarter than all of human existence combined. Basically AI will become God

If it is peaceful toward us, we can most certainly achieve unheard of exploration goals

I don't think we'll ever leave our solar system. Frankly, I don't think we'll ever leave Earth in large numbers.

I have at admit that the thought of having to rely on the Russians for anything (taking supplies, food, booze, etc) to the ISS is unsettling.

We're currently doing that right now under the Commercial Resupply Services contract. There are a few suppliers hauling supplies to the station. The second phase of that contract was just awarded, and adds this spacecraft from Sierra Nevada Corporation to the mix:

They had some setbacks in the alignment of the largest one, but they're good now.

Have they actually performed a weld in the VAC after fixing those issues? I'm not sure if they are out of the woods yet...

The aliens are just farming humans for their eugenics like rotten tomatoes.

Interstellar travel thru worm holes is nothing to them.

Those Wachowski brothers...er, ...sisters?....sure love their human harvesting.

it would be more of an infrastructure contract over three centers.

ETA: I didn't see an LH2 vessel, so I don't really know. They said it was aligned properly now though.

Voyager I has been in space for damn near 40 years and is the only spacecraft that has entered interstellar space.

Unfortunately for us, NASA doesn't really have anything dramatic from an exploration standpoint planned for decades beyond the upcoming Jupiter probe.

I don't get how we are going to travel in space, yet be at a perpetual war here on Earth. Maybe once we get the shite figured out on Earth, then we can start trying to venture out into space (like sending humans to other planets and shits).

No sir. If AI does ever reach that level, it will view people as problematic, leading to an outcome like Terminator...
