The "live way out there " comments crack me up also. Live in Austin and youll really start feeling what distance and traffic are. I used to drive from lsus to My folks house on cross lake in 15 to 20 minutes.
Southern tracé was the spot when i lived in shreveport. How old are the houses and are they aging well?

If I'm paying that much for a home, it better be about half the size and sitting on 60 acres so my closest neighbor is at least 1/4 mile away.
Looked at doing that as well but good luck finding anything decently priced land wise anywhere near Shreveport. I would love to be out of town but better have real OT money to get 60 acres and build a nice house.

All Im asking for is a 1/2 to 1 acre lot that is not surrounded by clandestine labs. So far its failure.

they used to almost give land away around there before the Haynesville shale

Built in mid 90s. Seems like some are fine but others are not. Played golf there this last weekend. Just seems like there are a handful of badass homes but more that seem mediocre for trace now.

I know. Its crazy what people are asking for land south of town. Have a great family friend that bought about 1400 acres right before the shale hit and I can't imagine what he could get for his place now.

There's only one place to live in Shreveport. That's South Highlands. All you South Shreveport posers don't know what the hell you are talking about.

An old house with a tiny kitchen and tiny bathrooms? Ill pass. Plus I want my kids to be able to park their bikes at night without having to lock them up.

No, you are thinking of Broadmoor. I'm talking about South Highlands.

If your ok with 80 year old overpriced homes and then putting another $200K into it to get it looking half way decent, then your absolutely right. My grandparents lived in South Highlands for 55 years and I love the area but I like my brand new house just fine.

Yeah, you could always build some Olive Garden looking shite on Railsback. Then you just have to watch out for the drunk housewives coming home after happy hour.

If by trying too hard to keep older, beautiful, non-cookie cutter homes updated in what could be considered "Uptown Shreveport", than I guess I see what you are saying...

Someone's gotta actually live within the city limits and pay taxes.

It's a nice idea. My sister had a beautiful home there 25-30 years ago, gave it up after too many break ins. Too many negatives in the port to make that work. It is a yuppie/jr. league, magnet for the pretentious though.

I am thinking of SH. The place that is always 3 blocks from a ghetto.
You know how I can tell if someone lives in South Highlands?
They tell you they do right before they step into their used benz.
