Dillard University as well, just reported on Fox8.

Entergy said that was due to a vehicle ramming into a pole earlier.

quote:Damn, that brings back memories of my SELU days. Computer science department was updating labs across campus, and all the old x386 machines were being tossed into dumpsters.

Student workers started stripping out the guts before the cases were tossed, and it caught law enforcement's attention. Bunch of state-level cyber folks came in and raised hell, fingerprinted a bunch of my guys, but it never went anywhere.
I could understand them investigating outright theft, but these were machines getting tossed into dumpsters.

My bank strips down every PC and piece of office equipment, including things like calculators and adding machines. IDK if it's some kind of regulation or if they just do it. Seems excessive to me.

Former Slu employee/retiree here,
The water cooler talk is ransomware/hack ,
Whatever it is is powerful since we had on-site and off site system backups and nothings been restored yet.
It’s ironic because the powers there removed all retirees Slu email accounts since “we would be more prone to click on malicious links”
However when I was still there the intrusions came from active employees clicking on the bad stuff. I’m sure that may be where this came from
