Facebook video - Changing of the Guard and Wreath Laying
Sadly, the number of vets in the state has decreased to the point that these flights are no longer going to happen.

A charter flight takes the WWll Veterans to Washington, DC so that they can see and experience their WWll Memorial. They also enjoy a tour of DC and visits to the Korean, Vietnam and Iwo Jima memorials and monuments. The WWll Veterans are also special guest at Arlington Cemetery and they observe the Changing of The Guard at the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier. WWll Veterans do not pay for the one-day trip.

The sentinels at the Tomb wear no rank insignia to not potentially outrank any of the Unknowns.
All the Unknowns were awarded the Medal of Honor by the current US President at their interment.
The Vietnam Era Unknown (buried in 1984) was later identified through DNA and disinterred from Arlington and reburied in the St Louis area.
The honor guard has been on guard there 24/7/365 since midnight of 2 July 1937.

I think I have posted this before but one of my best friends was a sergeant in the Honor Guard. Him and his brother were the only brothers that have ever served on the Guard.
Great Article 2010
I grew up with both of these guys and both have served tours in Iraq and Afgan. Like brothers to me.

I would appreciate it if you would thank them for me when you next see them, in general and specifically for their Arlington service.
I have a distant cousin still serving on the USS Arizona.
